
Locke “Buz” Wasler (Shawnee/Kickapoo)
Locke grew up outside of Pittsburgh, and inherited his family’s work ethic and dedication to community and the People. In his current position at New Regency Studios, he is making that passion a reality. His experiences include:
- Over 30 years of promotional experience, including small and large-venue concerts, events and cultural festivals with attendance of over 25,000 people.
- Planning, promotion and execution of concert and sound production for concerts, festivals, local events for presidential campaign
- Development of cable network television shows
- Built five-county wide cable television advertising system
- Founding member of the Pittsburgh American Indian Center
- Designed and implemented script-writing seminars for local faith-based audience
- Officer in Arts Council of Washington County, the American Cancer Society, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Arts Council, Pennsylvania Council of the Arts (including receiving the honor of Citizen of the Arts)
- 20 years film industry experience with a strong knowledge of the creative, financial and production aspects of filmmaking
- Currently serving as president of the Danish Brotherhood of America, California-Nevada District and is a member of Golden West Lodge #143
Karin S. Wasler (Danish/German)
Karin’s passion for education and culture have roots in her teenage years, and have developed ever since. She currently works as a training program manager at UCLA. Her background includes:
- Over 20 years experience planning, implementing and leading multi-language, multi-faceted events (university level, private industry and youth camp)
- 10 years of cultural and linguistic teaching experience (German) to children and adults (Concordia Language Villages). Fluent in German and Swiss-German
- 10 years experience in change management, leadership development and customer service consultation and training services, including Iowa State University, Los Angeles Times and University of California-Los Angeles and Native American church leaders conferences
- Planning Committee, Nordic Spirit Symposium, 2010
- Former National Board member, Danish Sisterhood of America, 2015-2022
- Founding member and Vice President, National Foundation for Danish America
- Member of Princess Marie Lodge #68 and Tivoli Lodge #300
Together Locke and Karin wrote, directed and produced Wintertalk, an award-winning documentary short about the inculturation of Native American beliefs and Christianity. They make their home in Los Angeles, where they enjoy exploring their cultural heritage. They have sponsored events in Los Angeles including the Scandinavian Film Festival, Los Angeles Skins Fest, and Native Voices, a youth writing program at the Autry Museum.
